With more than 60, 000 applications already received from citizens hoping to benefit from the Governor Ifeanyi Okowa empowerment programme, the Delta State Government has alerted members of the public of Internet tricksters and other fraudsters allegedly trying to dupe unsuspecting applicants.
A public statement to this effect was issued on Wednesday by Mr Charles Ehiedu Aniagwu, Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to Governor Okowa, urging the people to be on their guard.
The statement, which expressed sadness about the development, said that the government was aware of the activities of some fraudsters attempting to extort money from applicants particularly using some internet media, by promising to give them slots in the schemes at a fee.
Nonetheless, Eniagwu reiterated that the different schemes of the empowerment programme initiated by Dr Okowa "are well though-out such that beneficiaries would be made to have a changed mind-set that will make them to be dedicated to the achievement of the objectives of these schemes.
