Social media was a  paradigm  shift in the way organizations communicate with their clients and consumers. This year, more than 88 percent all over the world will use social media to win and attract new customers and make huge sales.
One may be tempted to think that social media will continue with its current state of development in terms of mobile applications and speed optimization. Don’t be surprised if your concept of social media changes less than a year from now, because there is another  paradigm  shift coming in the way we communicate in business and with others. The new technology to watch out for is called virtual reality.
Oxford  dictionary  defines virtual reality as: ‘The computer-generated simulation of a three-dimensional image or environment that can be interacted with in a seemingly real or physical way by a person using special electronic equipment, such as a helmet with a screen inside or gloves fitted with sensors.’
With virtual reality, you can be with anybody whenever you like in a virtual environment. Everything will look real. You will be able to see, feel and sense the other person as though you are meeting them in real life.
Mark Zuckerberg, founder and CEO of Facebook announced on March 25, 2014 that his company has agreed to acquire Oculus VR, the leader in virtual reality technology.
Oculus VR build virtual reality technology, like the Oculus Rift headset. When you put it on, you enter a completely immersive computer-generated environment, like a game or a movie scene or a place far away. The incredible thing about the technology is that you feel like you’re actually present in another place with other people. People who try it say it’s different from anything they’ve ever experienced in their lives.
Virtual reality will  bridge the gap between space and time. In the future, one will be able  to decide if he or she will attend your event physically or not.  For instance, for the just concluded  MTV Africa Music Awards, where D’Banj won the MAMA Evolution award  in South Africa, with virtual reality, he can choose to go there virtually instead of travelling from a country like Nigeria to South Africa, thereby saving valuable time.
With the introduction of Virtual Reality in Facebook starting year 2016, you don’t need to go events  physically. You can just be in your house, and with a device you will  be there virtually.
